Meet Deb Smith, passionate landscape designer, gardener, crew chief, scheduler, project manager, and green rooftop specialist. A self-described ‘mover and shaker’, Deb brings equal parts energy and discipline into work every day. Deb appreciates being outdoors to enjoy the natural attributes of every gardenscape she tends. We are delighted to have Deb on our leadership and design team. We appreciate her consistency in everything she does!

Deb started gardening at an early age, but pursued a financial planning career prior to becoming a horticulturalist. A move from her native Wayzata to Napa Valley piqued her interest in horticulture. It remains one of her greatest pleasures to help others understand that “garden areas” mean something more than a rectangular veggie garden. Last year Deb expanded her experiential rooftop gardening project using European seeds, and grew a veggie garden in her own hay bales! When not at HLG, Deb can be found in her woodworking shop creating amazing furniture, gourmet cooking, or traveling around the world.
